An Investigation of Stress-Dependent, Temperature-Dependent, and Time-Dependent Strains in Randomly Oriented Fiber Reinforced Composites
SourceThe effect on modulus change due to temperature on the stress-strain response of a glass fiber reinforced composite is discussed. Operationally simple constitutive equations for stress and strain computation while material temperature is transient are presented; these equations employ stress, internal specimen time, coefficient of thermal expansion, and measured material constants to determine the stress-strain response of fiberglass composites. Formulation of generalized constitutive equations to particular stress temperature histories is adduced and experimentally verified.
