Instrumentation of Large Buried Culverts

The need for information on the performance of large buried culverts has resulted in implementation of three field-instrumentation programs. Soil stress, strain, and deformation sensors were developed for these studies using the induction coil system. The projects are described and the results are illustrated. This experience is used as a basis for assessing the capabilities of the instrumentation.
