Introduction
SourceThe problem of elevated temperature low-cycle fatigue deformation and fracture behavior is of great importance to the design of power plants, petroleum and chemical processing factories, and other machinery which operates at elevated temperature. Repeated cyclic plastic deformation caused by thermal stresses at discontinuities such as may occur during start-ups may cause early cracking with all the undesirable consequences. It is therefore of economic interest to study the material deformation and fracture behavior under simulated service conditions.
