Interference Fits and Stress-Corrosion Failure
SourceService failure analysis and theoretical and experimental investigations have been carried out to investigate the stress-corrosion susceptibility of the aluminum alloy structures due to the use of interference fit sleeves and mandrel-coining procedures. A methodology has been discussed for the design of interference fits so that maximum improvement of fatigue life can be attained while the stress-corrosion susceptibility is kept to a minimum.
