Characterization of Some Solvent-Resistant Thermoplastic Matrix Composites
SourceThe chemical, thermal, mechanical, and solvent-resistant characteristics of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), and polyether ether ketone (PEEK) have been investigated. These studies employed Fourier Transform Infrared Analysis (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and X-ray diffraction to characterize the chemical, thermal, and crystalline nature of the neat resins. Tension tests of their composites were also conducted to determine mechanical property behavior both initially and after exposure to humidity and solvents.
