Instrumented variable rate impact testing has been found to be an effective analytical tool for identifying the important load-deflection response of reaction injection molding (RIM) materials. Molded parts of varying geometries can now be tested using many impacting probes or tups over a wide impacting rate range and temperature region. Complete load-deflection analysis allows the engineer to formulate, design, process, and assemble a product having improved, reliable functional performance.
