High-Strength Cast Stainless Steels with Enhanced Corrosion Resistance
SourceCA6NM was a major step in the development of high-strength cast stainless steels. For severe service environments, even better mechanical and corrosion properties may be needed. To meet the requirements imposed by these environments, a group of steels containing nominally 12 to 17 percent chromium, 4 to 6 percent nickel, 0 to 2 percent molybdenum, and 0 to 2.6 percent copper has been developed and commercially produced. Heat treatment, mechanical properties, microstructures, weldability, and corrosion resistance of the alloys are described.
