Studies of Acoustic Emission in Soils
SourceThis paper describes a study on acoustic emission in soils, continued from previous research, by the method of triaxial compression test, to explore a possibility of establishing correlation between the characteristics of acoustic emission in soils subjected to shear stress and deformation properties of the soils. From the results of tests conducted under strain-controlled and stress-controlled conditions, it has been made obvious that the characteristics of acoustic emission are closely connected with the rate of axial strain, the sign of dilatancy, and work done by external stresses during shear process.
