Reference Sequence IIID Test Method

This method describes on engine test procedure for evaluating certain performation characteristics of motor oils. The test evaluates oil thickening characteristics, sludge and varnish deposits, as well as engine wear. Information Letters are periodically published jointly bu the ASTM Test Monitoting Center (Appendix A.1), and General Motors Research Laboratory (Appendix A.2) to provide additional new information pertaining to the test procedure.
