The bridge deck deterioration problem has been attributed to the corrosion of the reinforcement steel. Epoxy coating of reinforcement steel provides a positive means of preventing salt-induced rebar corrosion. The epoxy coating process is a well-established manufacturing procedure capable of full-scale bridge deck production.
