The purpose of this chapter is twofold–first, to describe generally the cycle of product evolution to give the reader “a feel” for the environment in which the quality function exists, and second, to demonstrate the various forms of specifications or requirements type documents, this being an introduction to the next chapter in which the characteristics of good requirements type documents will be discussed in detail.
