Oil and resin base caulking compounds have been employed for sealing joints in buildings for many years. This paper describes the history, composition, and types of compounds. Back-up materials, movement capability, and life-expectancy are discussed. Effects of painting the compound, package stability, limitations, methods of testing, and specifications related to the compounds are included.
