Advanced composite materials have been available for many years now, and these materials are being used extensively for many military and space applications. A modest and growing base of commercial applications has been established also. But current use is still only a fractional part of the overall potential use that was originally foreseen. This potential still exists but some significant barriers must be removed if the true potential is to be realized.
