Various processes have been developed for manufacturing composite materials and composite structures. In some cases matrix resins and reinforcements are combined into “preforms” or “prepregs” and then used as the starting material for fabricating composite structures. In other cases, the matrix resin and reinforcement may be processed directly into the finished structure, such as in filament winding solid rocket missile cases.
