A Device for Bioassay of Response to Olfactory Stimuli in Wild Rodents

Source

To record the attraction of an animal to odorous testing materials, the scent was placed inside plexiglass tubes equipped with photocells. Located close to one end of the tube, the photocell senses the presence of the test animal's snout. The signals are transferred to a data logger connected with a paper-tape punch or to an event recorder. The device can be placed in home cages, enclosures, or the natural habitat of the study animal.
