High Alloy Thermoelements
SourceThe alloys considered in chapter 7 are dilute alloys of transition elements which contain a maximum of about 20 atom percent of alloying additions. The alloys to be considered here contain up to about 60 atom percent of noble metal additions to the transition metal base. Three systems of this kind have been studied: Cu-Ni, Ag-Pd, and Au-Pd [64–68]. The Cu-Ni alloys, or constantans, are typical of this type of alloy and will be presented in detail as being representative of this class since they are in common use.
