Adhesive Properties of Silicone Sealants

It is shown in this paper, that the strength of adhesion between the sealant and substrate depends upon surface properties of these materials expressed in terms of specific components of their surface energies and the acid-base interactions.

The predictive model regarding the relationship between the bond strength and the energy of acid-base interaction presented in this paper may be applicable in both dry and humid/wet environments.
