The Marriage of Glass and Stone
SourceThis article reviews two of the many curtain wall systems available to clad the exterior of medium to high rise buildings with glass and stone: the vertical stopless system and the unitized curtain wall system. These glazing methods utilize aluminum as the structural backbone and glass and stone as glazed panels. The systems' major details are individually analyzed and general recommendations on key areas are made, along with a discussion of preliminary design criteria for stone and glass curtain walls. Finally, advantages of both systems are highlighted.
