Quantitation of Pesticides on Apparel Fabrics
SourceThe efficiency of common organic solvents in extracting carbon-14-labeled carbaryl, dicamba, chlorothalonil, and glyphosate from cotton twill was examined. The degree of extractions was influenced by pesticide formulation, pesticide polarity, and solvent polarity. In most but not all instances, higher solvent polarity resulted in greater pesticide extraction. The data have implications in extraction methods selected for quantitation of pesticide residue on fabrics following various refurbishing techniques.
