Swelling Resistance of the Highly Deformed Titanium-Modified Austenitic Stainless Steel
SourceRapidly solidified and dynamically compacted titanium-modified austenitic stainless steel was neutron irradiated to a dose of 15 dpa in the temperature range of 668 to 823 K, resulting in a complete suppression of swelling. This has been explained, in agreement with currently accepted interpretations, as a combined effect of highly deformed structure and titanium addition to austenitic stainless steel. Higher fluence data are needed in order to understand more clearly the underlying mechanisms controlling the swelling behavior of this material.
