Of critical importance to the successful performance of an insulating glass unit is the quality and continuing integrity of its edge seal. There are numerous factors to be considered relative to achieving a durable and satisfactory performing product. This paper describes the present state of the art relative to the design, basic components, fabrication, performance criteria, and standards available for insulating glass, with particular emphasis on the edge seal.
