Is Microstructure Important to the Performance of Geosynthetics?
SourceQuestions are raised concerning the importance of microstructure to the long-term performance of geosynthetics. Since the long-term performance is of major interest, macrostructure should not be overlooked. The importance of understanding the minimum requirements for each product in each application is emphasized. Some traps are identified in using accelerated ageing to predict useful product lives. Long-term testing of products in a wide variety of applications and environments needs to be started immediately.
