Modeling Continuous Fiber Metal Matrix Composite as an Orthotropic Elastic-Plastic Material
SourceAn orthotropic plasticity model for describing the elastic-plastic behavior of metalmatrix composites is reviewed. This plasticity model is derived based on a plastic potential function which is a quadratic form in stresses. Simple uniaxial loading on off-axis specimens is used to determine the parameters in the model. A boron-aluminum composite is used in the experimental validation of the model.
