Physical Properties of Silicone Surfactants for Agrochemical Applications
SourceAqueous solutions of four silicone surfactants, and two hydrocarbon surfactants were studied over a range of concentrations for dynamic surface tension lowering, spreading on paraffin wax film, and static surface tension. Dynamic surface tension profiles were obtained by both the oscillating jet method and the maximum bubble pressure method. It was found that aqueous solutions of the silicone surfactants lower surface tension more quickly, spread better on paraffin wax film, and yielded lower static surface tension values than corresponding aqueous solutions of the hydrocarbon surfactants. Implications of the findings as regards effectiveness of these adjuvants are discussed.
