“Canada's Biggest Landlord Looks at Facility Performance”
SourceManagement of government facilities has greatly changed, both in extent and in management policy: even governments demand higher return on investment and better cost control. With tenant agencies unaccustomed to proper costing of their space, facilities management will be eased when there are universal and accepted standards to measure needs and to maintain buildings, as well as better means to relate facilities management to staff morale. Computers, which caused many of our facilities problems, also contribute to the solution: we must have more information for comparisons with private benchmarks and for sound government decisions. Sharing information among government, private sector operators and researchers is vital.
