Directo n Measurement in Yttria Stabilized Cubic Zirconia

We present here the results of direct measurement of the nonlinear refractive index, n₂, of yttria doped cubic zirconia at 1.06 μm using external self-focusing. The value of n₂ was found to be independent of the yttria concentration. The measured value (6 × 10^-13 esu) compares well with that calculated from the breakdown measurements [1].
