Techniques for the Evaluation of Cooling Water Corrosion and Scale Inhibitors in the Laboratory and at the Industrial Plant Site
SourcePolyphosphate based chemical treatment programs were evaluated in experimental cooling towers using linear polarization and potentiodynamic polarization techniques to monitor uniform corrosion and pitting corrosion rates. Correlations between laboratory and field corrosion rates are quite good. Relative heat transfer data indicate that two synthetic polymers are more effective than five phosphonates in minimizing calcium phosphate deposition.
