ASTM Subcommittee E35.22 is developing a chemical test method, ILS#1420, to allow producers of agricultural adjuvants described as “water conditioners” to demonstrate they function as water conditioning agents according to the definition developed by Subcommittee E35.22. This work describes test results from this chemical test method using commercial water conditioning agents compared to greenhouse bioefficacy results from a glyphosate-containing commercial product applied in standard hard waters containing the water conditioners. The bioefficacy results used were from a rate titration of the glyphosate product on four species—two broadleaf and two grass.
