Sensitivity Analysis of Moisture-Dependent Properties of Roofing Materials
SourceData has been generated for performing moisture modeling on roof systems for a set of key materials used on commercial low slope roofs in North America. The data were used to generate a sensitivity analysis, comparing the amount of variation in the results based on known and assumed variation in the measurements. The paper does not attempt to predict real-world performance of roof systems using these materials. It does use realistic simulation conditions to determine the most critical measured parameters for a moisture content simulation. The results show that the total moisture content of four different assemblies is most sensitive to moisture storage function, followed by water vapor permeability. In contrast, total moisture content is relatively insensitive to material density, liquid transfer, or thermal conductivity.
