The Impact of the Clean Air Act on Multi-Product Pipelines
SourceLarge multi-product pipelines currently face major problems in fuel storage capacity and product interface disposal as petroleum volumes are expected to increase. Additional fuel grades such as low sulfur diesel fuel and the requirement for highly oxygenated and reformulated gasolines will compound these problems. The paper reviews possible approaches in terms of minimum product tenders, additional quality control measures, additive controls, tankage limitations and interface disposal. Anticipated difficulties are also discussed as is the need for rapid field tests.
