Waste Disposal Issues for the Restoration of Building Facades
SourceRecently, there has been a growing awareness of environmental issues as they relate to the conservation of building facades. Specifically, there is a need to properly dispose of the waste created when cleaning or stripping paint from historic buildings. Regulations do exist to govern the disposal options for the hazardous ingredients found in the waste product, but many professionals working in the field of restoration are not aware of them, or of the negative environmental impact caused by improper disposal. There are methods and products that, when used, lessen both the cost and time impact of disposing of hazardous waste. At times, however, the disposal will add greatly to the cost of a restoration job. There is a need for a greater choice of environmentally sensitive products and industry-wide standards for proper disposal of hazardous products.
