Liquid Matrices For Insecticides for “Pour On” Applications In Queous Medium — Amitraz as A Case Study

Sprayable low viscosity liquid matrices capable of forming solutions or miniemulsions with insecticides in water medium were successfully formulated. The water based end-use compositions were designed to be applied as ‘pour on’ on animals. The concentrate matrix for water based delivery comprised of ethoxylated castor oil with HLB between 8–16 as the primary emulsifier, ethoxylated sorbitan monooleate and/or long chain (⩾ C₈) N - alkyl pyrrolidone as secondary emulsifiers. A prototype concentrate containing 10% amitraz for aqueous delivery on dilution with water at the time of use is provided along with stability data. The stability of the concentrate was considered enhanced by storing on molecular sieves 4A.
