Integral Testing of Spallation Cross Sections for Neutron Dosimetry at 113 and 256 MeV
SourceActivation rates were measured in Al, Au, Co, Cu, Fe, In, Nb, Ni, Ti, and Zr foils at well-defined geometries in neutron fields created by stopping 113 and 256 MeV proton beams in thick Al and U targets. The neutron spectra were independently measured using time-of-flight spectrometry. Comparison of these data sets provides integral testing and some adjustment of the poorly known activation cross sections at higher energies.
