A Review of Pressure Equalization and Compartmentalization Studies of Exterior Walls for Rain Penetration Control
SourceRecent studies have demonstrated that the amount of water penetrating through cladding systems can be significantly reduced by integrating the rainscreen concept into their design. Research has also shown that the mean pressure difference across the cladding governs the significant amount of rain penetration. A study on compartmenting the cavity has indicated that the location of compartment seals and the placement of the vents are important considerations in the control of wind driven rain.
