F1930-Test Method for Evaluation of Flame-Resistant Clothing for Protection Against Fire Simulations Using an Instrumented Manikin

An Interlaboratory Study was conducted to establish a precision statement for F1930, Test Method for Evaluation of Flame Resistant Clothing for Protection Against Flash Fire Simulations Using an Instrumented Manikin. Seven laboratories in four different countries were involved. One laboratory used two different types of instrumentation, so this second approach appears as an eight laboratory. There were four test conditions, with three specimens to be tested at each condition. The test conditions were: Condition 1: 3 second exposure at 84 kW/m2 with the manikin dressed only in the test coverall. Condition 2: 4 second exposure at 84 kW/m2 with the manikin dressed only in the test coverall. Condition 3: 4 second exposure at 84 kW/m2 with the manikin dressed in 100% cotton T-shirt and briefs under the test coverall. Condition 4: 5 second exposure at 84 kW/m2 with the manikin dressed in 100% cotton T-shirt and briefs under the test coverall.
