D7844-Test Method for Condition Monitoring of Soot in In-Service Lubricants by Trend Analysis using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectrometry

The precision of this test method is based on an interlaboratory study of ASTM D7844, Standard Test Method for Condition Monitoring of Soot in In-Service Lubricants by Trend Analysis using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectrometry, conducted in 2019. Eleven (11) laboratories participated in this study. Each of the labs was asked to report duplicate (2) replicate test results on a total of four (4) soots of various concentrations. Every test result reported represents a single determination or measurement. Practice D6300 was followed for the design and analysis of the data; the details are given in ASTM Research Report No. D02-2008.
