Source

This report provides information on the requirements of the U.S. reformulated gasoline program for ground vehicles equipped with spark-ignition engines as well as the U.S. EPA Renewable Fuel Standard program. This report describes various characteristics of reformulated fuels required for use in automotive vehicles within severe and extreme ozone nonattainment areas as designated by the Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) of 1990 and in those ozone nonattainment areas that opt in to the federal reformulated gasoline program or require certain EPA approved state fuels in their State Implementation Plans. It also includes information on states that are part of the Federal Reformulated Gasoline Program or that have EPA-approved cleaner burning gasoline requirements in their State Implementation Plans. This report also provides a comprehensive overview of the U.S. EPA Renewable Fuel Standard program requirements established by Congress under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (P.L. 110-140). EPA's final renewable fuel standard requirements for 2018 and biomass-based diesel volume for 2019 are provided. This report also includes federal EPA requirements for gasoline sulfur and Mobile Source Air Toxics. A table of ASTM, EPA, and California Air Resources Board Test Methods is provided.
