SourcePLANNING FOR THE PROTECTION AND SAFETY OF personnel and equipment must start at the initial facility design stages because of the hazards associated with oxygen and oxygen-enriched air. This planning should include a review of the hazards associated with each system as well as proper design to safely store oxygen, dispose of oxygen, and manage fires. Once an oxygen system is installed, there must be inspections and certifications to ensure that it is safe to use. In addition, steps must be taken to ensure that a system is maintained and that any necessary modifications are safely implemented. This chapter describes the life cycle of an oxygen system, beginning with topics related to facility planning and design, followed by a brief discussion of the steps that should be taken once an oxygen system is built to ensure that it is safe to use. This chapter is concluded with discussions of the steps that are taken once an oxygen system is in use and continuing through its decommissioning.

Verification: ASTM has the right to verify compliance with this License Agreement, at its expense, and at any time during the course of normal business hours. To do so, ASTM will engage an independent consultant, subject to a confidentiality agreement, to review your use of ASTM Documents. Limitation of Liability. To the extent not prohibited by law, in no event will ASTM be liable for any loss, damage, lost data or for special, indirect, consequential or punitive damages, however caused regardless of the theory of liability, arising out of or related to the use or downloading of the ASTM Document. In no event will ASTM’s liability exceed the amount paid by you under this License Agreement.
