These peer-reviewed papers present information on advanced characterization techniques for asphalt concrete. They are extended versions of select papers presented at the 8th RILEM International Conference on Mechanisms of Cracking and Debonding in Pavements, held in Nantes, France, in June 2016. The conference featured research on the mechanisms responsible for cracking and debonding (MCD) in asphalt concrete and composite pavement systems and the latest advances in research to analyze mechanical damage and its detection in multilayer systems.
Learn about the latest research on electromagnetic induction, infrared radiation, acoustic emissions, digital image correlation, and a novel optical measurement system. Also includes papers on viscoelastic modelling and design, carbon fiber reinforced joint sealants, and tire-pavement interaction.
