A Compressive Creep Machine
CODEN: JTEVAB
Abstract
A deadweight loading machine for creep tests in compression is described. The machine was designed to minimize buckling and friction. A four-bar linkage was used to guide the movable crosshead. Strain was measured by a single differential transformer. The specimen consisted of a thin-walled tube heated internally by a quartz tube lamp. An example is given of creep of 2618-T61 aluminum in compression.
