Experimental Determination of Galvanic Anode Current Output for Common Geometries Used in Civil Works Applications
CODEN: JTEVAB
Abstract
The current output from various common galvanic (sacrificial) anode geometries used in immersion service was experimentally determined. The results showed a specific functional dependence on exposed surface area and a scalable inverse relationship to the resistivity of the surrounding electrolyte medium. The use of this information as applied to cathodic protection design is also presented using three of the most readily available freshwater sacrificial anode metal alloys.
