Significance and Use

2.1 This guide will encompass:

2.1.1 Core Principles—Guiding principles for conducting a needs assessment with a DEI lens ensuring equity, accessibility, and representation.

2.1.2 Data Collection Methods—Recommended methods for gathering data on the organization's current state of DEI, including disaggregated demographic information, employee/stakeholder surveys, focus groups, industry analysis, level of cultural competence and document review.

2.1.3 Data Analysis and Interpretation—Strategies for analyzing and interpreting data to identify the actual DEI strengths and challenges faced by an organization.

2.1.4 Reporting and Recommendations—Best practices for reporting findings and crafting actionable recommendations to address identified DEI needs.

2.2 This guide will be excluded from defining specific DEI goals or action plans nor does it address the specific aspects of relations with labor unions or work councils or country-specific compliance, legal requirements, or litigation.

Scope

1.1 In this guide, the key components and best practices for conducting a comprehensive needs assessment focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) will be defined.

1.2 Directed towards DEI professionals, it will be applicable to organizations of all sizes and sectors seeking to improve their DEI performance.
