Significance and Use

4.1 Photogrammetric analysis is a long-standing science that can aid in the exclusion and inclusion of items and people in forensic investigations. It can also answer specific questions regarding speed, size, location, and distance of objects, areas, and so forth, in the field of view.

4.2 This guide addresses the following three phases of photogrammetric examination:

4.2.2 Methodology.

4.2.3 Interpretation of results.

Scope

1.1 This guide covers basic information on conducting photogrammetric examinations as a part of forensic analysis. The intended audience is examiners in a laboratory or field setting, or both.

1.2 This guide is not intended to be used as a step-by-step practice for conducting a proper forensic examination or reaching a result. This guide should not be construed as legal advice.
