Standard Practice for Opinions on the Interpretation of Primer Gunshot Residue (pGSR) Analysis by Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectrometry (SEM/EDS)

1.1 This practice covers the range of opinions that are currently supported by the existence of a body of published scientific literature. This practice does not address all possible circumstances that might be encountered when giving an opinion.

1.2 The use of this practice presumes that the data on which an opinion is being offered was obtained under requirements of Test Method E1588 or a comparable published standard.

1.3 This practice is intended for use by competent forensic science practitioners with the requisite formal education, discipline-specific training (refer to Practices E2917 and E3284), and demonstrated proficiency to perform forensic casework.
