Scope
1.1 This test method is applicable to the determination of dicumyl peroxide and the decomposition products dimethylbenzyl alcohol and acetophenone in cured and uncured polyethylene (PE) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) resins. These uncured polymers normally contain from 1 to 2 % dicumyl peroxide, whereas the residual peroxide level in the cured polymers is usually less than 0.1 %.
1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific precautionary statements are given in Section 7.
