Significance and Use
5.1 Zeolite composition with reference to silica and alumina is an important indicator of zeolite performance and is a valuable tool for assessing parameters in various industrial zeolite based catalyst processes.
5.2 This guide will be useful to zeolite manufacturers and end users (petroleum refiners) for quality verification and performance evaluation.
Scope
1.1 This guide covers the analysis of silicon and aluminum in zeolite by Inductive Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES). Zeolite samples in powdered form are ultrasonicated with mineral acid mixture (hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid). Zeolite silica and alumina molar ratio calculated from the silicon and alumina determined from the ICP-OES. This practice covers the silica and molar ratio in the range from 5 to 300.
1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this guide.
