With the 1970 Airbus Design Project, Cranfield's College of Aeronautics carried out some innovative early work in composites, largely carbon/epoxy. Since 1980, a considerable effort has been expended on the building up of facilities and resources to allow the college to adopt a significant role in this field of technological development.
