Thin-Walled Laminated Composite Cylindrical Tubes: Part I—Boundary Value Problems

CODEN: JCTRER

Abstract

A procedure is presented for solving two-point boundary value problems of filamentary wound composite cylindrical shells of finite length subjected to general edge loadings. The three Donnell's equilibrium equations, written in terms of the displacements, are reduced to a set of 16 first order coupled ordinary differential equations. This set of equations, together with the prescribed boundary conditions at each circular end of the composite cylinder, is then numerically solved using a variable step size finite difference scheme. Two examples are presented and discussed.
