ASTM C215 Standard Test Method for Fundamental Transverse, Longitudinal, and Torsional Resonant Frequencies of Concrete Specimens - eLearning Course
About this Course
This course covers measurement of the fundamental transverse, longitudinal, and torsional resonant frequencies of concrete prisms and cylinders for the purpose of calculating dynamic Young's modulus of elasticity, the dynamic modulus of rigidity (sometimes designated as “the modulus of elasticity in shear”), and dynamic Poisson's ratio.
This course includes downloadable resources including a procedural outline and a pdf of the standard, instructional video content, interactive knowledge checks, and a self-grading quiz. The course can be completed in about one hour.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify apparatus and related components used for determining Fundamental Transverse, Longitudinal, and Torsional Resonant Frequencies of Concrete Specimens, including the components of the forced resonance and impact resonance apparatus.
- Recognize test specimen requirements as outlined for ASTM C215.
- Recall steps for determination of resonant frequencies by both the forced resonance and impact resonance methods.
- Identify calculation procedures for calculating dynamic Young's modulus of elasticity, dynamic modulus of rigidity, and the dynamic Poisson's ratio.
- Recognize reporting requirements for ASTM C215.
