This course covers the determination of the dynamic shear modulus and phase angle of asphalt binders when tested in dynamic (oscillatory) shear using parallel plate geometry.

- Recognize steps for standardization, check, verification, and preparation of test method apparatus, especially those that apply for temperature measuring devices and test plates.
- Describe the procedure for preparation of test specimens, including acceptable methods for binder transfer and creating the test bulge.
- Recall the procedures for specimen testing, including how to obtain a test measurement.
